Fright Night Poster and Trailer Reveal!

Things just got a little better in vampire news. IGN unleashed a wicked trailer for the upcoming vampire-next-door remake, Fright Night, as well as the poster art (above). The film stars Anton Yelchin as Charlie Brewster, a teen who becomes convinced that his neighbor, Jerry Danridge (Colin Farrell) is a bloodsucker. The remake of the 1985 cult classic also features Toni Collette, Imogen Poots, and Christopher "McLovin" Mintz-Plasse, who will be taking over the iconic role of best friend "Evil" Ed, not to mention David Tennant (Doctor Who) filling in the role of Peter Vincent (who's now a magician and not a late-night horror host *sad face*)  But enough of my rambling, see the trailer for yourself after the jump!

So what do you think? I love the original, but this also looks like it'll be a bloody good time. It seems that Charlie isn't the only paranoid character in the film this time around, and it also seems obvious from a few scenes that his mom believes his concerns as well (mom was oblivious in the original). And though I'm sure Chris Sarandon was a bit of a stud in his time, I don't see any woman refusing Colin Farrell a little slurp.

  1. I tend to always have mixed feelings on remakes. While some of them do succeed, most of them fall well short of the originals. I absolutely love the original Fright Night. It's a shame that Roddy McDowall is no longer with us, as I would have loved to have had him cast in this remake in his classic role of Peter Vincent. I'm also curious to see how well "McLovin" can pull of the Stephen Geoffreys role of "Evil." McDowall and Geoffreys were my two favorite actors in the original, so doing a good job of replacing them is going to be key for me and ultimately will probably decide how well I like this film. The trailer does look a bit promising though. I'll give it that.

  2. Just a curious little bit of trivia...did you know that Geoffreys went on to do a SHIT TON of gay porn after his roles in Fright Night and 976-EVIL? I've read the titles on IMDb before. Some are quite frighteningly hilarious. My personal favorite from the list of names has to be "Guys Who Crave Big Cocks". I mean, that's about as clear as the title for "Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

  3. Actually, yes I did know that. I too checked out his titles on IMDb after reading about Bite Marks. I would say I was quite surprised to say the least. Guess I never pictured him that way while seeing him in Fright Night and 976-EVIL. It made me think of Fright Night and wonder how much he thoroughly enjoyed the scene with Chris Saradon in the back of the alley.

  4. Oh, and I think the title "Butt Blazer" is my favorite. I find it amusing.
